Yes, you can make changes to an approved mix. Keep in mind that any modifications, new versions, or small edits after approval will need a new revisions package. This helps us dedicate the right time and resources to your changes. It’s best to plan your changes carefully to make the most of your revision package.
Yes, Travsonic provides quality control (QC) services for film mixing. QC is a key part of their process for all audio-visual projects, including film, audiobooks, and broadcast.
How Travsonic’s QC works:
- Our audio production team reviews the final mix for errors and mistakes.
- If errors are found, they are sent back to the studio for possible editing, recording, or pickups.
- Travsonic’s team is experienced and precise, and they strive to deliver the highest quality audio.
No, your film or music has to have been previously mixed in stereo. It only includes processing and mixing. You will need to add-on the audio editing and cleanup service to the package at an extra charge.
Here’s what you get with mix revisions:
- 4 free revision sessions come with your package
- Each revision session can include multiple edits
- Most projects take about 4-5 full revision sessions. Need more? We offer an unlimited revisions option for an extra fee. It’s great for complex projects or if you want more flexibility.
Yes. We provide a stereo downmix when your film is mixed in surround sound. This allows you to review the mix on standard headphones or a stereo system. We can also provide a binaural mix, which emulates the immersive experience on standard headphones.
No, an M&E mix is not included in the default production packages. It would be an add-on and incur an extra fee.
For final stem mixing, all plugins must be left active. This is important if you also have a lot of special effects and processing that is part of the tone and sound. However, it is recommended that you remove any compression or limiting on the master bus.
For multitrack mixing, such as sending us an AAF, you can remove any plugins and send RAW audio. There are certain situations where effects were used which is hard to recreate. In this case, we may request a stereo-mixed file of those effects.
Yes, a reference mix helps the audio engineer adhere to the vision and sound you are aiming for. We will make improvements and bring your mix up to industry standards.
For film mixing, we provide a range of deliverables to cover various platforms:
- Theatrical mix for screenings and cinema
- Broadcast mix for TV and cable
- Streaming mix for platforms like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu
- Web mix for YouTube, Vimeo, and websites
- Mixed Stems of the final theatrical mix.
- M&E Mix (Music and Effects mix) Note that an M&E mix is an extra service which must be purchased.
These cover all major distribution channels, giving you flexibility in sharing your film. Each mix is optimized for its specific platform, ensuring great audio quality across different viewing experiences.
An M&E mix (Music and Effects mix) includes all sound effects from the full mix and production audio, except dialogue. It’s commonly used in film and TV production. It is a requirement for most distributors when releasing a film internationally for dubbing in another language.
TravSonic’s Dolby Atmos music mixing service converts stereo audio into a 7.1.4 surround sound format for music distribution. This allows music to be played on headphones and audio speaker systems that support Dolby Atmos.
Upmixing is a process of taking stereo audio stems to turn them into a greater number of audio channels using signal processing techniques. This process transforms 2-channel stems into 5.1 channels for surround sound applications in films. Examples of audio stems for film are dialogue, SFX, Foley, ambiance, and music.
Here’s how our payment structure works to get your project started:
- Projects $500 and under: Full payment upfront
- Projects over $500: 60% down payment
- Projects over $1,000: 50% down payment
Your project kicks off once you’ve approved the quote, paid the required amount, and sent all necessary files. This helps us start working on your project right away.
TravSonic provides different film mixes because various platforms like streaming services, broadcast television, and movie theaters require distinct audio adjustments due to varying listening environments, with theatrical mixes needing a wider dynamic range for immersive sound while streaming mixes often need compression to accommodate diverse home setups; essentially, a single mix wouldn’t optimally translate across all viewing experiences.

Ready to send us your audio files? Here is a helpful checklist:
- Export all audio files no lower than 16 bit/44.1k Wav files. Both mono and stereo are accepted. No lossy formats such as mp3.
- All exported audio should not have extra processing such as extensive EQ, heavy compression, limiting, noise reduction, or effects. Light compression and EQ are satisfactory as long as it is at the same settings during the recording process.
- If the audio has already been edited, be sure it is free of region clipping. No head or endpoints are cut off and has some crossfades.
- If sending unedited audio, please include all outtakes, voice cues, and retakes preferably all in the recorded file per section.
- Label all audio files according to the table of contents of the audiobook numbered in order such as: Opening credits, 2. Introduction, 3. Chapter 1, etc.
- Include the final book script, eBook, or Kindle version for reference. The print version can also be mailed.
- Include any notes that may be helpful to the editing process.
- Copy all audio files in a folder and send them using your preferred file sharing platform such as Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc. Do not send files as email attachments, please.

Audiobooks
First-time clients are offered a complimentary audio sample of up to 2 minutes from a section of the recorded audiobook. This is provided to give the client an idea of what can be done with the recorded audio. The audio sample includes editing, processing, and mastering. With the high volume of requests, free audio samples are limited to one per client.
Audio Post-production | Film and Video
Due to the audio production involved in film and video, complimentary samples are not offered during the initial estimation process. A complimentary project evaluation is provided to outline what can be addressed and processed in a spreadsheet format. This will give the client an idea of what can be done before committing.
Estimates are valid for 30 days from the issue date. This is a no-obligation quote and does not enter you into a contract or payment.
You can approve your estimate anytime via the online link emailed to you. You will see an “accept” or “approve” button at the bottom of the estimate. Once you approve, an invoice will be sent to make the payment. Please note that if the estimate was approved but a payment has not yet been received, the project will be put on hold.
We will send you an invoice via email to make a secure payment online. If you wish to make a different payment method, it can be arranged.
Yes, if your 30-day estimate has expired you can request a new estimate. Note that the price may not be the same as the previous estimate as prices do change periodically.
No, the estimate process is to get an approved estimate. We believe in first giving a free evaluation of your project. Once we feel confident that the project can be fulfilled and you approve the estimate, a deposit is required.
We believe in evaluating your project to get to know your needs and vision first. Since every project is different, we want to make sure you get exactly what is needed and you feel comfortable. This also ensures the best quality service to our customers.

Revisions and Project Edits (8)
If you wish to have more services added to your project, you will have to either purchase an extra package or modify the current estimate. Yes, this would count toward your complimentary revisions.
It is required that your film is at the final stage and a locked version is submitted for mixing. Once a film is locked, no duration can change along with the sequence. However, footage can be substituted as long as the duration does not change and it does not affect the audio content during the editing and mixing stage. Result: If the film duration and footage are changed mid-project, it may incur an additional fee to resync the audio.
The Customer has the option to purchase an unlimited revision add-on to a production package at an additional fee.
This option is ideal for long-term projects which will require a high volume of editing and revisions.
Revisions are small adjustments to the overall project and include:
- Volume changes
- Panning
- Small edits
- Adjustments to effects
- EQ
- Other processing
Revisions are changes to audio requested by the client during the entire project period. Often referred to as an ‘edit’, a revision session typically takes the form of multiple edits done in one sitting. For example, one revision session could consist of many edits. Many projects take about 4 to 5 revision sessions.
- Arrangement changes such as re-recording at Travsonic Studios will incur the hourly studio rate. Note, submitting re-recorded audio provided by the Customer will count towards a revision.
- New file submissions are not included such as vocals, instruments, or sound design. If extra services are needed not incorporated in the original project quote, it will incur an extra fee.
